Sealing in the bathroom

1. Make the surface clean and dry

Remove dirt, dust and grease with a clean cloth. You should degrease non-porous surfaces with an alcohol- or paraffin-based product. Dry the surface.

2. Tape off the joint edges

Use good masking tape to neatly tape off the grout edges. You will then grout nice and straight. Make sure that the joint is 5 millimetres wide on each surface.

3. Open the cartridge

Cut the top of the cartridge with a safety cutter. Turn the nozzle onto the cartridge and cut the end off at an angle. You get the best result if the nozzle opening is the same size as the joint to grout. Place the cartridge in the sealant gun and squeeze the handle until the grout appears.

• Soudal Sanitary Silicone is a silicone based on acetic acid. You only use this sealant for joints around an (antique) bath made of enamel or porcelain washbasins. Half fill the bath before you seal the joints around it. The elasticity of the sealant makes the joint waterproof when the bath is completely empty or full.

Note! Bathroom sealants can cause stains on natural stone. Do you have marble, bluestone or another natural stone in your bathroom? Use Soudal Natural stone silicone to seal your joints.
