Skirting boards and decorative fixtures

Installing skirting boards and decorative fixtures

Using adhesives to install skirting boards to the wall

Installing skirting boards may seem simple, but does require a high level of precision. A high-quality assembly adhesive makes for a much smoother transition between boards (mitre joints, for example), fixing them firmly into position.

Soudal offers a wide range of water-based, solvent-based and hybrid assembly adhesives. Thanks to their high initial grab and gap filling properties, they can compensate for irregularities in the substrates.

How to apply adhesive

To achieve even coverage, apply the adhesive in a zig-zag pattern to the back of the skirting board. When fixing the skirting board to the wall, press firmly to activate the grab properties of the adhesive.

Finish off the installation by sealing the gap between the top of the skirting board and the wall using Decorators Caulk. Apply the caulk using a sealant gun and finish using a soapy water solution to smoothen the joint.
